CONCEPT AND CHOREOGRAPHY

MATHILDE CAEYERS

What is free will in a highly technological society?

New Religion is a sci-fi dance performance where five dancers drift inside a four-meter-tall labyrinth that dictates where the body moves.

It is a chilling, dystopian performance where technology’s omnipresence has a godlike authority, challenging the concept of free will.

The line between fiction and reality is blurred, appealing to your sense of urgency.

“What technology does to human behavior is a question that engages broadly among technologists, social scientists, journalists, in medicine and ethics. It is good to see an artistic reflection that contributes to the conversation with strength and a high artistic quality.”
